Owner's Description

DID YOU KNOW? At age 33, he wrote the draft of the Declaration of Independence unaided by references in 18 days.
Jefferson served his country as minister to France, 1785-17899, secretary of state 1790-1793, and as a vice-president, 1797-1801.

Thomas Jefferson Silver Dollar was actually issued in 1974, to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth. Only silver dollar coins which had a maximun mintage of 600,00 coins was a complete sell-out.
Beyond individual coin sales, the Mint offered a special Coin & Currency set which contained the commemorative silver dollar, a 1994 matte proof Jefferson Nickel, and a crisp 1976 $2 bill.
The obverse is a image of Thomas Jefferson and the reverse it has views of the famous home Monticello. He was known to be quit brilliant and accomplished.
He is looked upon today by many presidents and also has a unique history of decendants appearing here and there.
