Owner's Description

Issued to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America. The coin features on the obverse a standing Columbus with a banner, and three ships in the background. The reverse shows a half view of the Santa Maria on the left and the Space Shuttle Discovery on the right.
He died of what was many strange illnesses back then related to Gout. It was later figured that the age of 55 complications of Reiter"s Syndrome which is severe reactive arthritis.
On May 20, 1506 at age 54 approx., Columbus died in Valladolid, Spain.
