Catalog #KM-236. NGC Universal ID: 28RS. Mintage: 375,851. Population: 2473. Pre-issue price: $23.00. Regular Price: $28.00.
Continued from the unc. coin. 500,00 was the maximun mintage authorized for the White House Silver Dollar. This represented the lowest level established to date for a modern commemorative silver dollar. This was a fact that was even highlighted in the promotional materials.
The coins were struck in proof version at the West Point Mint, and the uncirculated ones at the Denver Mint.
The maximum mintage was a complete sell out. Surcharges from the sales of the coins were paid to the White House Endowment Fund and used to support the White House collection of fine art and furnishings and for the maintenance of the public rooms.
The exterior of the White House is wood requiring 570 gallons of white paint to cover it.
INTERESTING NOTE: The White House has an indoor tennis court, swimming pool, movie theater, running track, billiard room, and a bowing lane.
