Owner's Description

June 25, 1950 - 27 July, 1953. The Korean war was between the Republic of Korea, (South Korea) which was heavily supported by the United Nations, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), which was supported at times by China and Russia. At one time, the United States provided 88% of the soldiers that came to the aid of the South Koreans, the rest were from 20 members UN Nations. Because it was an undeclared war, President Harry S. Truman said it was a "Police action).

1991 marks the 38th anniversary of the Korean War and to honor those who served a Korean War Memorial Silver Dollar commemorative coin was minted.The 38th yr anniversary date coinsides with the "border" between the two Korea's at the 38th degree of latitude.The obverse depicts a soldier charging up a hill, and the reverse has a depiction of the divided countries.
