Owner's Description

The fame of this monument, Mount Rushmore is frequently depicted in film, media, and pop culture. National Treasure: Book of Secrets featured the memorial and the so called City of Gold.
The National Park Service oversees the Monument. There are ongoing efforts to seal the cracks that were once sealed by Gutzon Borglum with a new compound of silicone and granite dust.
Tourism is South Dakota's second largest industry and Mount Rushmore is the states top tourist attraction, and hosts nearly 3 million visitors a year.
A massive carving on a granite cliff called Mount Rushmore National Memorial, is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota near the city of Rapid City. It features the faces of four presidents. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.
The head of Washington stands at 60ftWork began on the memorial in 1927 using drills and dynamite. The designer was Gutzon Borglum who died in 1941 before the memorial was finished.
