This commemorative was issued to celebrate the Bicentennial of Congress.
The obverse of this fantastic coin features the Statue of Freedom, and the reverse has the House of Representatives Mace. They are the bicameral legislature of government consisting of The House of Representatives and the Senate. Representatives are up for election every 2 years, while the Senators are in current office for six years.
Congress is the lawmaking branch of the Federal Government. The are capable of drafting legislation to amend the Constitution conduct investigations and reviews the work of the Executive branch of the government.
