Owner's Description

The 1988 Seoul, Korea Games were held in many new structures including a stadium that seats 100,000. Seoul, the Capitol of South Korea is second only to Mexico city in population. It was founded by General Yi Song-gye, also the founder of the Yi dynasty family. Many of Seoul's people work for the government. The nation's chief businesses have their headquarters there. Railroads, highways, and airlines connect Seoul to the rest of the world and by sea it's seaport is the Han River.

The 1988 Olympic Silver Dollar was issued to commemorate the United States participation in the 1988 Seoul, South Korea Summer Olympics.The obverse was an image of the Statue of Liberty torch and the Olympic torches touching, and was designed by Patricia Lewis Verani.
The reverse was designed by Sherl Joseph Winter and showed the Olympic Rings surrounded by a Olive branch pair.
