Owner's Description

Grover Cleveland was the Governor of New York when he was nominated to run for President. Known as Grover the Good because of his dedication to cleaning up corrupt government, Cleveland came under fire during the election for having had an illegitimate child. Cleveland confessed to the fact, and the public forgave him, and even praised his honesty. Cleveland won the election, and served the first of his two non-consecutive terms from 1885 through 1889. Single when he entered the Executive Mansion, Cleveland married college girl Francis Folsom, when she graduated, making him the only President to get married in the White House. When he lost the election in 1888, First Lady Francis Cleveland told the staff to take good care of the place, they would be back.
