Owner's Description

If there ever was a superstar President, it would have been Ulysses S. Grant. Serving two terms from 1869 through 1877, Grant was considered the hero that saved the Union. His election was the first time the newly freed slaves were able vote, and he got nearly every one they cast. Grant made an error, however, when he appointed friends and army buddies to key posts in the government, which they proceeded to abuse. Scandal after scandal made Grant's name synonimous with corruption, and would overshadow his accomplishments as General. Grant's biggest accomplishment was to go after the KKK, which was the terrorist arm of the Democratic Party at that time. He crushed the Klan, bringing a short-lived peace to the South.
