Owner's Description

Abraham Lincoln is truly one of the greatest Presidents to have ever served in office. He served from 1861 through 1865, his entire term being defined by the American Civil War. In his time, people either loved or hated him, but no one could ignore him. He had a famous sense of humor, and always had a story or anecdote to illustrate a point he wanted to make. He was not considered a handsome man, but his self-depricating wit disarmed people. Someone once called him two-faced, to which he replied, If I was two-faced, would I be wearing this one? Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation which ended slavery in the United States. He had been so outraged by the Kansas Nebraska Act, he helped form a new party in order to fight slavery; the Republican Party. Shortly after the start of his second term, and after the surrender of the South, Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth while watching a play at Fords Theater, becoming the first President to be assassinated. American icon, a martyr and a phenomenom that transcends his presidency, Lincoln still lives in the hearts of the American People.
