Owner's Description

Series I, The Snake, Gilt Version, This Australian Lunar Silver Coin celebrates the Year of the SNAKE. The reverse of the coin depicts a Snake and a hatchling, along with the Chinese character for Snake, as well as a border of five bats among the clouds, symbolizing health, peace and prosperity. The Obverse of the coin features Ian Rank-Broadley’s effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. People born in the years 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989 and 2001 are born in the Year of the Snake. The coin is struck from 1 oz of 99.9% pure silver and was issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act of 1965. While feared in the West, the Snake is revered by the Chinese and is considered both beautiful and wise. Those people that are born in the year of the Snake are characterized as being deep thinkers and the most enigmatic of people.
