CYPRUS, KING GEORGE 1 PIASTRE 1922.

The first 1 piastre for the reign of George V was issued in 1922, fourteen years after the previous issue in 1908 for the reign of Edward VII.

OBVERSE: Crowned bust of King George V facing left.
REVERSE: 1 within a beaded circle.
ENGRAVERS: Obverse: Edwar Bertram MacKennal. Reverse: Leonard Charles Wyon.
DIAMETER: 32 mm
WEIGHT: 11.66 g
EDGE: Plain.
METAL COMPOSITION: Copper 95%, Tin 4%, Zinc 1%.
MINTAGE: 54,000
RARITY: Scarce in low grades, but extremely rare in EF and uncirculated.

The quality of this coin defies the low MS62 grade.
Although not perfect, it remains truly exceptional, its eye appeal enhenced by the wonderful color.
Features a sharp detailed strike, clear surfaces and full original red luster.
