Owner's Description

THIS COIN: Full satin-like luster. Well struck. Pleasing surfaces with attractive iridescent hints of blue-green, red-orange and golden rainbow tones at the rims on both sides. A captivating display of rainbow hues.
BACKGROUND: Owing to a strong commercial demand for trade with the Orient, some 2,549,000 coins were struck in 1874 at the San Francisco Mint. Nonetheless, few higher mint state examples are known making specimens at these grades relatively rare.
