Owner's Description

This year was the last year before the "master die" was re-worked. Most of the obverse hair detail along with reverse writing on the liberty bell was not good. However this '59-D is a "master gem" showing very little weakness in those mentioned areas. It is a rare coin indeed to have with the "strong detail" exibited on this particular example. A gorgeous white example with a perfect strike and very bold bell lines. Mintage for this year was 13,053,750 of which a mere minuscle amount remains. And that which remains are for the most part, very "weakly struck" with little detail and very soft bell lines.
