Owner's Description

This coin along with the 57 & 58-P are ones that were purchased through Heritage Auction Galleries. They were part of a larger group of mostly all MS-66 Full Bell Line coins being sold by a fellow collector here at the Collectors Society. This date had a fairly low mintage as did most P- mint coins in the Franklin series. The mintage for 1956 at Philadelphia was 4,032,000 total coins. Of these many many tens of thousands have been melted in the great silver melts of the 80's and the ones since 2006. This coin has great detail and is like most 66-FBL coins in that it probably came from a mint set looking at the type and degree of toning. The majority of the coin is a light gray with some very nice toning on the periphery. A nice example that replaced a MS-65 FBL that once was here. I'm very glad to have aquired this 66 along with the other two just mentioned. This is one of 83 coins graded in 66-fbl with only two graded higher by a single point.
