Owner's Description

This is a very nice "multi-colored" NGC-MS-65. This coin was a Heritage Auction buy on 5/26/09. Due to the toning, the Bell Lines are hard to see but are quite "Bold". The colors in this "mint set" toned coin encompasses every color of the rainbow.
The mintage for this second year of the series was a modest 5,614,000 total coins. NGC has graded a total of #903 in Full Bell Lines. There have been #266 in 65-FBL. And 34 have reached MS-66 FBL with only a single coin making the grade of mint state 67 with the "Full Bell Lines". The "master die" was only in its second year but was already seeing deterioration due to the need for continuously new "working dies". Things only got worse for the master die the following year as it was also used to make the proof dies which cranked back up after taking several years off.
This is a date that for the present, coins grading MS-66 FBL are still within reach. But the question is? For how much longer?
