Set Description
My goal for this set is to complete it from "raw" coins I have purchased, then submitted to NGC for grading. I started this collection in 2011. After having done a multitude of research both reading and talking to some of the top authority's on Franklins, and searching over hundreds of coins, I have been fortunate enough to acquire (3) Top-Pop Proofs for their particular tier so far, the 1951, 1957 and the 1961. To find gem level collectable proof Franklins during this time of manufacturing by the U.S. Mint is a daunting task to say the least. One major problem was the way the dies were prepared and maintained, another was the preparation of the planchets. It was during this period (1950 - 1963) that the U.S. Mint labored over how to produce more than a few fantastic proofs in Cameo and Ultra Cameo and have the dies be consistent throughout the runs. I will discuss each year in detail, individually, so you may understand this fantastic coin more fully.
