Owner's Description

Capped Bust dimes came in two types, generally referred to as Large and Small Type (the large type was minted without a restraining collar - giving them a larger appearance). There was also a slight difference in diameter. I have read that the size of the date also is usually larger in the earlier coins and smaller in the later coins. I found some other interesting varieties in the series, like STATESOF (where there is no space between the words). At a very basic level, this is the Large type variety in the middle of the period (1809-1828). I also believe it is a JR-5.
