Owner's Description

1783 TOKEN Georgivs Triumpho Token. Baker-7, R.3. Believed contemporaneous with its date, this token bears a portrait of General George that more closely resembles King George. The portrait resembles Washington less than another famous George from the era, King George III, perhaps because a bust or painting of Washington was not available to the engraver. The usual die state with a heavy vertical die break across the left (facing) shoulder of the standing figure
