October 26, 1944The U.S. Navy defeats the Japanese in the Battle in Leyte Gulf. The Japanese Navy was now virtually powerless. U.S. B-29 bombers begin the massive bombing campaign against mainland Japan. December 16, 1944Germany begins its last-ditch offensive in the Ardennes,The start of the Battle of the Bulge. ****As for this Date,the 44-S Jeff is somewhat-scarce! * An also, like the 42-S Jefferson, some have a die/crack,extending thru- the "S",like a dollar-sign.
