The informative booklet, The Conservation of Coins - A Buyers Guide can now be viewed and downloaded from the Internet at the Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS) website.

Under a committee chaired by Mark Salzberg the Chairman and CEO of NGC, this educational booklet was produced by PNG, ICTA, NGC, PCGS and ICG. The booklet was written to clear up misconceptions and misunderstandings about coin cleaning and restoration.

NCS reproduced the booklet in its entirety on their website which can be viewed here.

"The Buyer's Guide is a great educational tool and for that reason we have decided to highlight it on our website so collectors and dealers can access it easily," says Brian Silliman, NCS Assistant Director of Operations and Conservator. "We have constructed a website that has become a valuable source of information about coin collecting and conservation that both new and experienced collectors and dealers can utilize."

Another valuable resource for information on cleaning, surface problems and alterations is NGC's pamphlet, Understanding No Grades. This booklet can be reached through a link from the NCS website.

In addition to these educational pamphlets, visitors to the NCS website will find information about the company and staff, submission procedures and guidelines, conservation and storage information, news and a gallery of before and after photographs.

"Some of the projects already planned for the website include expanding the Before and After Gallery to show a broader range of coins that are suitable for conservation," says David J. Camire, NCS Director of Operations.

Based in Sarasota, Florida, NCS is dedicated to the advancement of coin collecting and the preservation of our numismatic heritage. NCS is the American Numismatic Association's conservation service of choice as well as the official conservation service of Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC).

For those collectors and dealers who prefer the printed versions, NCS will gladly send you a copy of both, The Conservation of Coin - A Buyer's Guide and Understanding No Grades. To request both booklets, contact NCS customer service.

NCS can be contacted by writing to P.O. Box 4750, Sarasota, FL 34230 or by calling toll-free 866-NCS-COIN (627-2646) ext. 212. NCS's email address is NCSHelp@NCSCoin.com.
