NGC Adds Low-Price Service for Modern Coins

Effective immediately, Numismatic Guaranty Corporation is introducing a new, low-cost tier under which it will grade and encapsulate all United States coins from 1955 to date for just $11. Eligible under its new “Modern” tier will be all regular issue, commemorative and bullion coins.
The increased popularity of these recent issues is behind NGC’s decision, as the company addresses the growing need for an inexpensive means to have modern United States coins certified by the leading grading service in the industry. The success of NGC’s Certified Registry has contributed to the increased demand for the grading and encapsulation of modern coins.
The Modern tier requires a five-coin-minimum submission and has a turnaround time of 30 days or less. This service applies to coins valued at $300 and under. There is no additional charge for coins that receive special designations such as CAMEO, FBL (for full bell lines) and the NGC star (applied to pieces having superior eye appeal). NGC’s graders will assign these designations where applicable as part of the Modern tier fee. Submitters seeking variety attributions, however, will need to include the $5 fee for NGC’s VarietyPlus service.
United States coins from 1955 to date may still be submitted under NGC’s higher cost tiers, but it’s anticipated that customers will readily take advantage of this money saving option. For additional savings, on-line submissions made through NGC’s Collectors’ Society will receive a 10% discount.
