Posted: 5/11/2006

On May 26, 2006, Bowers and Merena will be conducting the newest auction in the numismatic market in conjunction with the equally new Anaheim Coin & Collectibles Expo. This nearly 1,200-lot auction is organized into two sessions beginning promptly at 2 PM and 6PM Pacific Daylight Time, respectively. The sale will be conducted at the Anaheim Convention Center, 800 Katella Avenue, Anaheim, California, 92802.

“The Anaheim Coin & Collectibles Expo is a new numismatic convention that has been organized to bring together collectors and dealers from all around Southern California and across the United States,” stated Bowers and Merena President Steve Deeds. “Bowers and Merena is proud to have been selected as the Official Auctioneer of this exciting new event. With our worldwide headquarters located just miles away from the Anaheim Convention Center, we are uniquely disposed to help make this convention one of the main annual events for rare coins and currency.”

Continued Deeds: “Collectors and dealers have already responded positively to the new Anaheim Coin & Collectibles Expo by consigning some truly spectacular rarities to the Bowers and Merena Auction. Leading the way among NGC-certified highlights in this sale is a high Condition Census 1842-C Large Date Liberty Half Eagle graded MS 64 (lot 1480). Also of note is an 1870 Liberty Eagle graded Proof 63 Cameo NGC (lot 1530) and an impressive 1851 Augustus Humbert, 887 THOUS, Target Reverse $50 in NGC AU 50 (lot 1427).”

“Non-gold highlights in our Official May 2006 Anaheim Auction are also destined to see spirited bidding,” opines Bowers and Merena Director of Numismatics Jeff Ambio. “We have a key-date 1844-O Seated Half Dime graded MS 65 NGC and pedigreed to the Atwater and Pittman collections (lot 1005), a richly original 1818/5 Capped Bust Quarter in NGC MS 65 (lot 1071) and a conditionally rare 1924-D Standing Liberty Quarter certified MS 66 FH by NGC (lot 1098).”
