Copper coins can be particularly succeptible to developing deposits within the tight spaces of the design. This 1955 Doubled Die Obverse Lincoln Cent is a desirable coin both to collectors of Lincoln Cents as well variety specialists due to the extreme nature of the doubling of the design. This particular example is also a good example of how these deposits seen between the legends and the rim on the obverse and around the wheat stalks on the reverse can develop. These deposits have the real potential of developing into corrosion spots under the right environmental conditions.

Conservation with NCS was able to safely remove the unattractive and potentially harmful deposits from the crevices of this coin. Following conservation this prized Lincoln Cent was able to grade well and encapsulated in a optimum holder for long-term enjoyment and stability.
