"Polka Dot Paradise"
I dont know where to start with this coin so how about I start things off with provenance. I was lucky enough to purchase this coin in March of 2012. The coin was featured in a greatcollections.com auction. When I paid for it I asked to speak to Ian ( The owner of greatcollections) and he had all kinds of info about the coin. He told me that the owner of the coin brought it to a coin show and wanted to consign it in auction. The coin at the time was raw. He went on to tell Ian that he actually was the person that pulled this coin out of the original bag in the early 1980's. Of course greatcollections had to have the coin graded before consignment papers were finished. As you can see it graded MS65 and I have no doubts in my mind that this coin would CAC if I so chose to send it in. I am extremely honored to be the second owner of this "fresh to the market" coin.

Before I get too far into describing this coin let me just say that this coin is the most beautiful coin I have ever held in my hand. Im not saying it is the most beautiful coin, but it is certainly the most beautiful I have been lucky enough to hold. Now lets get to the meat and potatoes. As you can see this coin features a healthy array of colors. Not only are there many different shades of colors, but they are ALL the desirable colors. The luster is certainly above average and under axial lighting the fields just explode with color. Its obvious I love textile toners, and I can say that this one has everything I ever wanted in a coin. Its also worth noting that the reverse is just dripping with originality. Underneath that original patina is a semi-PL surface. What looks like a fingerprint at the bottom of the reverse is actually from a crease in the bag. Can you tell I love this coin yet? My wife named it "Polka Dot Paradise" because it reminds her of our cabin up north. We sit at the fire and watch the sky turn pink over the lake at dusk. This one obviously starts out like a fire by the date, than the blue ripples look like the lake, and lastly the the pink at the top resembles the pink hues in the sky during summertime at dusk. As long as she keeps letting me buy them Ill keep letting her name them. I hope you all really enjoy this one. Picture taken by Shane Canup.
