||HALF DOLLARS - SEATED LIBERTY, ARROWS 1854-55
||50C 1855 O ARROWS
||PCGS MS 66
WB-101. A wonder coin for luster and outstanding toning. An exceptionally strong strike on Liberty's head and upper torso, but correspondingly weak on the lower left side of the eagle on the reverse. Breen mentions the possibility of the final 5 in the date being recut, and that looks to be the case here. Not altogether clear, but the lower loop of the 5 looks to be recut, and there is further eveidence of recutting within the loop at the tail end of the 5. The variety is not mentioned in W&B. From John Feigenbaum at David Lawrence, October 1999.
