Owner Comments:
Original green-gold skin over lustrous & minimally-marked surfaces. Most '61-C HE's come with choppy surfaces & conspicuous marks. This is a nice exception of the final delivery from the Charlotte mint. This date represents the mint's swan-song, with the outset of hostilities between the Northern & Southern states... paltry mintage of 6,789, with some being coined under the auspices of the Confederacy. A date steeped in historical aura & quite elusive in any grade. Combined PCGS/NGC population report stands at 165-175 examples still in existence.
