THIS COIN: An exceptionally strong strike with all devices bold and complete. Satiny luster abounds beneath a gentle layer of naturally vibrant, iridescent silver-gray toning. A stellar example of this date and mint mark, with none graded finer by NGC or PCGS. Type I/I.
BACKGROUND: With 5,227,000 business strikes, this year and mintmark is the second highest mintage of the Trade Dollar series. Most of this production was shipped to the Orient and higher grade mint state examples are rare. Known varieties include: I/I, I/II and II/II. Double die obverse examples exist.
