Owner Comments:
This commemorative half dollar was issued in 1936 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Wisconsin territory. David Parsons, a University of Wisconsin student, devised the basic design, and Benjamin Hawkins, a New York artist made changes to conform with the technical requirements.
Reverse, an arm holding a pickax over a pile of lead ore, was the territorial seal. The obverse features a badger on a log, the state emblem, with in the background which symbolize the Black Hawk War of the 1830s.
The coin, which is graded MS-65 is a premium quality example for the grade.
