PCGS graded MS 63 BN, EAC AU55
Variety: N-3, LDS
This reverse of this coin has nice frosty luster and no mentionable flaws. The obverse has glossy luster, but is less appealing, including minor surface disturbance around star 5. The strike is good, except for the forelock and upper left stars.
I bought this coin from Chris McCawley at the November 2007 Baltimore show. It was the first coin I bought without having all the money up front. I'm grateful to Chris for letting me make payments over several months.
This coin appeared earlier in the 2007 Heritage FUN auction. The catalog description says:
1824 1C MS63 Brown PCGS. N-3, R.2.
Well struck save for the left side stars. Shimmering luster crosses the pleasantly smooth medium brown and steel-blue fields and devices. A minor reverse spot is noted at 8:30. From late dies with flowlined borders, as made. Not part of the Randall Hoard, and rare in Mint State.
EAC 55. Population: 6 in 63 Brown, 5 finer (12/06).
