Owner Comments:

PCGS graded MS 65 BN, EAC MS60
Variety: N-13

This coin is nicely lustrous, and has no significant contact marks. Its overall color is a pleasing light brown, but there are numerous small patches of darker toning that do detract from the eye appeal.

I obtained this coin in July 2007 as an upgrade for a rather ugly PCGS MS63BN I had bought in September 2004. As my collecting progressed and I realized I had a bit more money than I thought for this great hobby, I decided to purchase higher grade pieces for this set. I was fortunate to get this cent for a fair price, and to make a small profit on the 63 when I sold it at auction.

The Heritage catalog description for this coin says:

1817 1C 13 Stars MS65 Brown PCGS. N-13, R.1.
The variety is confirmed by the point of the coronet midway between stars 5 and 6, a double dentil left of the first 1 in the date, and a die scratch from the base of I to the back of the C in AMERICA. Exquisite definition is visible on the design elements, and light brown patina reveals traces of underlying gold. Well preserved surfaces reveal no roughness or significant marks. EAC 60.
