Owner Comments:
1787 COPPER Connecticut, Draped Bust Left, M. 48-g.5, W-4315, R.5, VF25 NGC. 124.2 grains. In his notes, Robert Martin called this example "decent for the variety." It enjoys pleasing golden-brown color and good detail on the effigy, legends, date, and Liberty's head, which maintains considerable hair detail. Striae occur vertically on each side, likely remnants of the rollers used to create the planchet. A few of the voids exhibit traces of what appears to be inactive verdigris. A shallow clip at 11 o'clock on the reverse aids in pedigree confirmation. Listed on page 66 of the 2021 Guide Book.
