1868 50C PR67 Cameo NGC. Few collectors can remain indifferent in the presence of a Seated proof. The sense of antiquity, the delicate, gleaming surfaces, the often-beautiful toning and contrast...practically every piece has some feature that attracts the attention of almost any numismatist. As for this Superb Gem, it has all those factors in spades. The fields have moderate reflectivity beneath light champagne-tinted haze, and the boldly impressed ivory-toned devices contrast wonderfully with the mirrors. Appealing orange-brown patina of varying thickness graces the rims, and the surfaces are exquisitely preserved, as one would expect for the grade. A true "wonder coin," one of just 600 proofs of this issue. Census: 2 in 67 Cameo, 0 finer (11/06).
