Quoting Heritage Auction's description for this piece:
This is a "HM-1, High R.2 - 1835 half eagles exhibited surprising variety. They come with either a Script 8 or Block 8 in the date, similar to the 1836 quarter eagle. Breen (1988) noted three different Liberty busts. In all, there are eight different die marriages. HM-1 is distinctive for bold clash marks at the centers and repunched letters in LIBERTY. This lustrous near-Gem is tied for unsurpassed at either NGC or PCGS. The sole identifier is a pair of hair-thin lines east of the date. Smooth surfaces, a solid strike, and orange-gold toning ensure the eye appeal.
