NGC US Coin Census for Walking Liberty Half Dollars (1916-1947)

Owner Comments:

Liberty Walking Type 1916-1947. Designed by A.A. Weinman. Mintage: 47,818,000 which includes 21,200 proofs. This coin is from the Greenhill Collection. It is White! The surfaces are UNTONED and oscillating with silvery color. It is quite lustrous. Unlike the usual survivor with its diminished mirrors dimmed by a toning haze, this handsome coin is very sharp from top to bottom and center to periphery. A spectacular reminder of how beautiful these Walking Liberty half dollar proofs were the day they were minted. As of 09/30/06: Proof 68 population was 117 (NGC), 34 (PCGS) with only four (4) with a higher grade: 3 (NGC) 1 (PCGS). This coin was purchased at auction for $2,813.00 on 09/12/06 from Ira & Larry Goldberg, Beverly Hills, CA.
