Owner Comments:
This 1882-S in MS66 is a beautiful, bright white and very clean GSA Morgan. The 1882-S is one of the rarer of the graded San Francisco mint GSA Morgans, with only 25 graded as of 4/07. There are only 3 GSA specimens graded at MS66, with 2 graded higher at MS67.
I bought this as a graded coin through an ebay auction in early 2005. Ebay, despite its faults, is what I call the great equalizer. It gives you a chance to have access to coins all over the country you would otherwise never see. When was the last time you saw one of these at your local coin shop (if you even have a local coin shop any more)? It gives you a chance to bid with and against the big boys. I had to overpay to get it, but isn’t that usually the case on ebay? It’s a dog eat dog world out there and the Darwin theory rules the ebay landscape. Better to buy privately, but who has the time or the connections to even find these coins unless you do it full time.
