It is not all that often that a high-grade, fully original, and attractive representative of this proof Seated Half Dollar appears in the market, for this is a genuinely scarce issue at the finer levels of preservation. One of the most desirable survivors, both sides display rich charcoal-copper and cobalt-blue peripheral toning around circles of brilliance in the centers. At least these are the colors that one can see at indirect angles, for a direct light source calls forth scintillating gold, electric-blue, and pinkish-apricot iridescence toward the rims. Sharply struck devices are set atop mirrored fields with a satiny texture.
