NGC graded MS 64 BN
Variety: N-6, EDS
This piece is well struck except for some stars and minor flatness in the hair, and has darker toning around the devices. There is no sign of wear. It has cartwheel luster, more obvious on the reverse like so many mint state large cents. It is a solid example of what I expect from a major service graded MS64BN.
This was my third middle date purchase, obtained from a July 2005 Heritage auction. I go back and forth on this coin. Sometimes I really like it. Other times I wish I could find a nice upgrade. Looking at it now, I like it, and I note that my photos, especially of the obverse, make this coin look far worse than it is.
The Heritage catalog description says:
1826 1C MS64 Brown NGC. N-6, R.2. Lovely rich-brown example with good detailing. The present example is from an early die state, despite the presence of light scattered die rust, as struck.(#1645)
