A remarkablely sharp 1803 half dime with outstanding hair detail. This variety, which Valentine listed as V-2 (now LM-2) is often noted for poor strikes. This one blows Eliasberg's coin out of the water.
This coin is the piece that was plated in Walter Breen's Encyclopedia of U.S. coin as variety # 2980 at the bottom of page 280.
