Late die state 1801 that is actually an AU-55. The obverse die is cracked completely down the middle, which resulted in an uneven strike. This coin convinced Jules Reiver that the two varieties listed in Valentine are the same variety. There is a second 1801 variety, but it's not really listed in the Valentine work.
