Owner Comments:
Part of a mini hoard - all same denomination and year - handed down from Great Grand Dad in a bank roll. As I recall correctly, Great Grand Dad never really trusted paper money or banks in general. He would always replace extra paper money for coins. Rumor has it that he hid coins all over the house and even buried them in a covered can under the house. Well, as time went on, Grand Dad figured there were such stash that were forgotten by Great Grand Dad. Later years development forced the family to move from the area and it has been paved and concrete over for the last 60 to 80 years. There just might be hidden treasure still buried there! Grand Dad worked in a bank in his younger days and moved whatever he managed to get from Great Grand Dad into a bank safety deposit box where it sat for decades.
As all the coins in this mini-hoard, they all exhibit greenish gold patina, frosty devices, and very nice luster. There are a few tiny ticks here and there while the fields are smooth nearly hairline free. The striking details of this specimen is rather good.
