Owner Comments:
WB-101. Open 3. One of the finest graded of this rare variety. Acquired at the David Lawrence auction of the Richmond Collection, March 7, 2005. Bugert and Wiley rate this date R8- in mint state, and the pops seem to bear this out. So far NGC has graded only this coin and one other at MS-63 in mint state, while PCGS lists one in MS-63 and one in MS-62. The strike is average with Liberty's head being somewhat flattish, though the stars, with the exception of star-7, do show their centrils. Bugert and Wiley do comment that the coin normally shows many heavy die lumps on Liberty, and that is true for this coin. There are several scattered across her figure, but only one on her left thigh is major.
