Owner Comments:

This coin celebrates Lincoln’s birth and childhood in Kentucky (1809-1816). Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a log cabin similar to the one on this penny on his family's farm - -Testament to his humble beginnings.

This coin is composed of Bronze, that is, 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc - - the same as the original 1909’s . . . a nice touch.

The SMS designation – “Special Mint Set” – means that the Mint used a special coining process for this coin that gives it a satin or matte finish. They come out of US Mint Sets and are not meant to be in general circulation.
