A beautiful Matron Head cent, a piece with a strong central strike and good overall appearance, and a coin that is the finest certified specimen of the date by NGC. A few trivial marks can be found under low magnification, and some faintness of strike at the obverse stars can also be detected, but the "naked eye" viewing of this coin is a distinct aesthetic pleasure. The glossy medium brown surfaces display a hint of mint red color, and splashes of pale blue and rose patina appear in iridescent splendor. The reverse die is rotated about 150 degrees (as opposed to the standard 180 degrees alignment), a fairly scarce occurrence for this date.
