WB-101. Although the pops show NGC has graded one coin MS-66 to go with one at MS-65 and 5 MS-65s at PCGS (none higher), it is hard to imagine this coin being surpassed by any of the others. Lovely light toning, booming cartwheel luster, a perfect strike on both obverse and reverse (full radials on all stars, full head and full sandal on the obverse, full talons on both of the eagle's claws on the reverse), and extremely clean, unmarked fields. It's hard for me to see what limits the grade for this coin and why it is not graded higher, perhaps even much higher. For this coin just to be classified as a "Gem" is truly an understatement. From the Stack's sale of the Quellar collection (where the cataloguer rhapsodized even more than I about this coin's beauty) October 2002, lot 677 (previously ex-Reed Hawn).
