The 1853-P gold dollar is the most common date in the series from my experience. It is also a common date for counterfeits. Collectors should examine uncertified examples very carefully. Mint State examples are generally available, and many of them are attractive.
The coin shown above is a very choice example in the MS-64 grade. It has virtually no marks and strong luster.
