Super Nice GEM MS 65 1878 Quarter Eagle (2 1/2 Dollars) in a new NGC Holder. Really hard to find in GEM or better condition. While 1878 was a good year for Quarter Eagles, Philadelphia minted 286,240 such coins, most of the Mint State coins saved are in Select condition or lower. As reported in the Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins, 2nd Edition even the Smithsonian only has a 1878 Quarter Eagle in Select (MS 63) condition.
