Owner Comments:

This coin commemorates Lincoln’s formative years in Indiana (1816-1830). He tried various occupations. I was surprised to find out that he also served briefly as the Captain of a volunteer company during the "Black Hawk War" of 1832 (Never heard of it!). He stated that it gave him "much satisfaction." It opened new avenues for his life.

This coin is composed of 97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper (More specifically: Core - 99.2% zinc, 0.8% copper; Plating - pure copper).

This coin also has the "First Day of Issue" notation. FDI indicates the coin was received for certification at NGC no later than the day following its official release. They may also indicate that the coin was received at NGC in sealed US Mint First Day covers.
