Owner Comments:
1877/6, or more accurately 1877, 6/7. I have read a number of explanations of how this overdate could come about but nothing seems plausible. Still there it is, something has corrupted the final digit 7 in the date and it looks suspiciously like a 6, and PCGS has added its blessing that it is indeed a 6. All controversy aside, the coin is pretty decent for the grade. It has the strike and eye appeal of a higher grade, but a few trivial marks on the obverse probably limit it. There is a die crack through the letters on the reverse which practically circumnavigates the coin. Bought from Harry Laibstain, December, 2008.
