Owner Comments:

NGC graded MS 68 FB

This is a very pleasing, lustrous, virtually unmarked, lightly toned Mercury dime.

I bought it for a somewhat strong price in Heritage's 2009 FUN show auction. I have been wanting to build my type collection, and this coin struck me as I perused the on-line catalog. I like the idea of finding an attractive coin with very few if any graded higher. (There are no 44-D 69s, but there is at least one NGC MS68*FB that I think is ugly - mostly brilliant, but with splotches of brown toning, including what looks like a partial fingerprint on the reverse. It seems to me that NGC gives stars [and CAC gives stickers] preferentially to toned coins, sometimes to unattractively toned coins.)
